All Timberland programs are free of charge unless otherwise noted. Anyone needing special accommodations to participate in a library's program may contact the library one week in advance.

Ongoing library programs: Story Times

Readiness for reading and school, positive experiences among families and friends, and growth in the connection between libraries, learning and joy: these are some of the objectives of library story time programs for children from birth to Kindergarten. Following are the regular story time program series being held this season at local Timberland Regional Libraries.

Toddler Story Time

For 2 year-olds, accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver. Programs include simple stories, rhymes, songs and movement games that children and adults can enjoy together.

Preschool Story Time

For children ages 3 to 6. Join in a program of stories, rhymes, songs and movement games. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to join in.

Family Story Time

For children age 6 and younger and their families; all ages are welcome. Join in a program of stories, rhymes, songs and movement games.

All Timberland Libraries (except Ocean Park Timberland Library) will be closed Sunday, August 31. All Timberland Libraries will be closed Monday, September 1 for Labor Day. Libraries will resume regular schedules Tuesday, September 2.

The Friends and the Board of the Raymond Timberland Library will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, September 2. Everyone is welcome to attend the monthly meeting at the library to discuss events and building projects. For more information call  (360) 942-2408 .

Wednesday, September 3

Raymond Timberland Library presents Introduction to Computers, 10 a.m.-noon, Sept. 3 for adults. Beginners will learn basic computer terms and how to move around the screen and use a mouse. Register at the library's upstairs desk or call  (360) 942-2408 . Practice time will be provided.

Saturday, September 6

Naselle Timberland Library presents PageTurners Book Discussion, 10 a.m.-noon, Sept. 6 for adults. Join in a discussion of "The Yiddish Policemen's Union" by Michael Chabon. Books are available for check out at the library's circulation desk. For more information call  (360) 484-3877 .

Thursday, September 11

Raymond Timberland Library presents PageTurners Book Discussion, 7-9 p.m., Sept. 11 for adults. Join in a lively discussion of "The Year of Magical Thinking" by Joan Didion. Ocean Park Timberland Library presents "History as Seen from the Inside Out" with Sydney Stevens, 1-2:30 p.m., Sept. 13 for adults. Join author Sydney Stevens as she shares stories from her book "Dear Medora: Child of Oysterville's Forgotten Years." The book is based on letters written in the early 1900s between Pacific County residents Helen Espy and her 15-year-old daughter Medora. For more information call  (360) 665-4184 .

South Bend Timberland Library presents Family Night: The Dragon That Came to Visit, 6:30-7:15 p.m., Sept. 16 for all ages. Join Mad Science and explore what to do with an unwanted houseguest, in this case, a dragon! In costumes provided for the program, princesses and knights from the audience can assist in the entertaining and educational science of "dragon-removal." For more information call  (360) 875-5532 .

Ocean Park Timberland Library presents After School Activities, 3-3:30 p.m., Sept. 17 for children grades 1-6. Celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day (annually on Sept. 19) with pirate stories, pirate games and a craft. After school activities will be held once a month through December.
