The Liberty Theater is proud to announce the first show in our 2008-2009 Education Enrichment Season. On Wednesday, December 3, 2008 Tears of Joy Theatre will present two performances of The Reluctant Dragon. This show is based on a children’s story by Kenneth Grahame, who is best known for The Wind in the Willows.
Tears of Joy will combine several styles of puppetry including hand and rod puppets and an adaptation of “bunraku” puppets that are operated in view of the audience by puppeteers playing parts of the mother and father.
Tears of Joy Theatre is based in Vancouver, WA and was founded in 1971. It has been bringing amazing puppetry to audiences throughout the U.S. and abroad since that time.
The Reluctant Dragon will link to school curricula in the areas of Social Sciences, Writing, Literature, Speaking and Listening, and Arts. Schools from Ocean Park to Seaside will be attending this fabulous performance.
The Liberty Theater is pleased to offer our education enrichment programs to local schools at reduced admission rates thanks to generous grants from The Autzen Foundation, The Bloomfield Family Foundation, and Pacific Power.
