A Great Holiday Gift Idea...! SUNSET EMPIRE PARK & RECREATION DISTRICT,
the SEASIDE LIBRARY and TLC CREDIT UNION have teamed up to produce a
community poetry book, "Writing Down the Words", which is a collection
of poetry and short stories to raise funds for the new Seaside Library.
Dan Johnson, creator and editor of this book writes in his Forward,
“writers sent their work from all over the state, including Portland,
Salem, Florence, Astoria, Gearhart, Cannon Beach and of course Seaside”.
He then give thanks to all that participated in the making of the book
including: “a young man from Portland, with grandparents living in
Seaside; Morgan Thiers is 7 years old and loves to come to the coast to
see his grandpa and grandma. Morgan is recognized as the youngest writer
to submit his work.”
Mary Blake, General Manager of the Sunset Empire Park and Recreation
District, known for her enthusiasm and her ability in bringing community
partners together to develop and implement projects that serve our
community, expresses her excitement in the Epilogue: “Young and old
break the barriers and again prove we are all in this together”. She
concludes, “to celebrate our connections and those systems that are
there to help make those connections happen, our library, our park
system, our neighborhood! Well, just read...the whole world will open up
for you and of course now you know...just Write Down the Words, we are
all connected.”
